Tom Gores: 'We Need Some Changes'

Pistons owner Tom Gores talked with the media during halftime at the final regular season home game last night, and he made a few key statements when asked about his teams play this year. He made it clear that he was not happy on how this season turned out in which I'm sure not to many owners would be with how things turned out especially playing in a new arena for it's first season. Gores made it clear that him and Stan Van Gundy will meet next week in Los Angeles to talk one-on-one on how this season played out and to discuss what needs to be changed going forward to help put the Pistons back in regular postseason contention. However, he would not commit on saying if Van Gundy would be back as team president and head coach, or just in one of the roles or even be let go from both. I would be surprised if he was brought back into both roles next season with just knowing on how bad Van Gundy has drafted even though he has made some solid trades with trading for Reggie Jackson and Blake Griffin to name a couple of his key moves. This team is in a critical spot right now as they are really tied up money wise into Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson. With no first round pick in this upcoming NBA Draft, they are really hoping that those trio of players can make a big push next season and compete for a playoff spot and even have homecourt advantage in the first round. The time is now for Gores to really step up as an owner and put his franchise into the right direction by either giving this team a new voice with the coaching position or shake up the front office who works the phones when wheeling and dealing with other teams, also when trying to acquire and sign players to come play for Detroit. This is too much of a proud organziation to be where it is at currently and moves need to be made to really help put the Pistons back on the NBA map if they wanna be taken serioulsy going forward by other teams. Let's hope Tom Gores has some sense of urgency and makes the smart decision moving into the future with this team.
